Our daily interactions — both online and offline — exist on a shifting spectrum between safety and risk. Personal data, bodies, behaviours, movements, and interactions are constantly observed, collected, and used — sometimes for protection and sometimes against our interests. These processes shape perception, influence behaviour, and construct versions of reality mediated by external systems of control.
What is genuinely safe, and what only appears to be? Can safety be experienced rather than defined as a fixed state? Is it a result of individual actions? How are illusions of safety constructed, and how do people respond to them? Who complies, who questions them, and who chooses to cross these boundaries? What is private, what is public — and how much control do you really have over your own safety?
